On Tuesday Tumkur Zilla Veerashaiva Basavasene activists under the aegis of its president P Gangaraju led a protest condemning the fact that the BJP and the JD(S) were not invited to form the coalition government in the State.
They also conducted rasta roko for a while in the city. The protesters had gathered near Townhall in the morning. The devious ways adopted by the Congress party is responsible for the non-formation of the coalition government in the State, they observed.
Though a memorandum has been submitted to the Governor indicating the numbers required for the formation of the government, provisions has not been made for it. This is an unconstitutional act, condemned Mr Gangaraju.
Inorder to prevent the BJP-JD(S) coalition government in the State, the Congress party has even exercised the influence of the UPA government in the Centre. This will not be pardoned by the general public and the Congress will have to pay a heavy price in the future for indulging in unhealthy politics, cautioned the protesters. If the Governor does not give his assent to the formation of the government in the State then we would have to intensify the protest, they added.
