Khrushchev Makes “No War” Pledge
Moscow, Nov. 6.
Mr Nikita Khrushchev, Soviet Communist Party Leader, today called for a meeting of world leaders from East and West. He said the “Victory of the Soviet Union” in launching its Sputniks had caused fear and dismay among its enemies, who had seen how strong Soviet science was.
But he gave a “No War” pledge on behalf of the Soviet Government and declared that co-existence was still the cornerstone of Russian policy.
India Won’t Compound Felony
United Nations, Nov. 6.
Mr V K Krishna Menon, India’s Defence Minister told the Security Council today that under no circumstances would India “compound the felony” that Pakistan had committed in Kashmir nor would India acquiesce in the commission of aggression. Mr Menon spoke in the resumed debate in the Security Council after the Russian delegate reiterated their view-point on Kashmir.

Highest-Ever Jump In ST Revenue

Bangalore, Nov. 6.
Finance Minister Veerappa Moily said here today that the State had recorded the highest-ever jump in Sales Tax revenue during 1981-82.
The spurt in revenue which moved up from Rs 244.7 crores in 1980-81 to Rs 307.4 crores in 1981-82 had helped the State overcome the deficit in the 1981-82 budget, he said.
