Former Kolkata police commissioner Prasun Mukherjee was interrogated on Tuesday for the first time by the CBI in connection with the death of computer graphics designer Rizwanur Rahman. CBI DIG Satish Golcha and CBI SP Zaki Mohammed grilled Mukherjee reportedly at the BSNL office in south Kolkata after meeting him at his office.

The questioning lasted more than an hour. “We have interrogated Prasun Mukherjee, but in the interest of the investigation, we cannot say anything more right now,” Golcha said.

When reached for his reaction, the former police commissioner who is now the Additional Director General, Telecom, refused to comment.

According to sources, Mukherjee told the CBI team that his assertion of suicide was based on information given to him by the Government Railway Police as they located Rizwanur’s body beside the track.
