Is Bollywood affecting the rich Indian culture and art badly?
Faced with the problem, REACH, a Dehra Dun-based NGO, has launched efforts to encourage Indian and Pakistani artists and provide them platforms in different parts of the country.
For this purpose, REACH on Tuesday roped in renowned painter Anjolie Ela Menon and ghazal singer Hariharan to issue an emotional appeal to the people to not forget their own culture. “In the age of Bollywood and TV soaps, we must preserve our own culture,” said Menon.
Stating that the Indian culture in its true form must be handed over to the next generation, Menon said she would continue to participate in all those events which reflect the true essence of the Indian art.
“Our art is being reduced to a mere commodity. We have to launch all round efforts to stop the onslaught of Bollywood,” Menon said.
Agreeing with Menon, Hariharan said though he was part of the Bollywood, he would not hesitate to admit that it was completely destroying the Indian culture. “Our culture is different from Bollywood, though I am part of it,” said Hariharan..
REACH head R K Singh said his organization would organize a series of festivals to promote the artists from India.
