KSP, ASC set up title clash

Harpreet Singh (12th PC and 68th) and K P Deepu (21st and 54th PC) scored a brace each as Army Service Corps (ASC) edged past Maratha Light Infantry (MLI) 5-4 to set up a title clash with Karnataka State Police (KSP) in the State-level hockey tournament for the Kodava Cup on Tuesday.

Sanjay Tete scored the other goal for the winners in 26th minute. For MLI, Sunil Kambar (12th PC), Praful Kumar (23rd and 48th) and Irfan Sanadi (46th PC) were on target.

In the other semifinals, KSP overcame MEG ‘B’ 3-2. Mohan Kumar (20th PS, Pradeep 38th and Magesh 56th) found the target for KSP while Dinesh Tirkey (4th PC) and Stephen D’Souza scored for Sappers.

Bhaskar outplays Bopanna

Defending champion B Bhaskar outplayed Sajan Bopanna in the second leg of the 38th State-ranking billiards tournament at the KSBA Hall on Tuesday.

Bhaskar, the first leg winner, scored a lop-sided 832-259 victory over the snooker champion. In another encounter, Sohail Jairaj scored a narrow 381-354 win over V K Sadarangani.

Balaji Reddy, winner of the junior billiards on Sunday, defeated Nadeem Azeez. The latter conceded the match when down 87-119.

‘C’ Division match called off

The ‘C’ Division football league tie between Crescent and Hindu Social was called off a few minutes before the final whistle as Crescent players refused to take the field after Hindu Socials struck their second goal to level the scores at the 515 Army Base Workshop ground on Tuesday. Organisers are yet to take a decision on the result of the match.

At first, problem arose when a Crescent player was red-carded when Crescent was leading 2-1. After the resumption, Hindu Social restored parity resulting in another interruption leading to the abandonment.

At the ITI ground, the Bangalore Wanderers - Rangers tie did not take off as the players of Wanderers did not produce their identity cards before the match.

Inter-school  football

SPT Sports will conduct Sunfeast inter-school football tournament from November 19 to 24 at SPT Sports Academy. The tournament is open to all recognised schools in the city in the U-16, U-14, U-12 categories. For details, contact: 080/ 4147-5441

Corporate TT tournament

Roots Sports will conduct a corporate table tennis tournament on November 17, 24 and 25 at the Malleswaram Association.

The events that will be conducted are team championship, singles and doubles for men and women, mixed doubles and men’s doubles (above 35 years).

Inter-collegiate hockey meet

The 30th edition of Dr Issac Abraham memorial inter-college hockey tournament, organised by the Alumni Association of St John’s Medical College, will be held from November 18-25 at the St John’s Hostel ground.

Interested colleges can send the entries along with entry fee of Rs 500 by draft or crossed cheque in favour of ‘St John’s Medical College Alumni Association’ to the Sport Secretary, SJMC Alumni Association, Sarjapur Road, Bangalore-34 on or before November 14. Arokiaswamy cricket tourney

The Frank Anthony Cricket Academy will conduct the Arokiaswamy under-14 and under-13 Centenary Tournaments from November 7-11 at the St Joseph’s, FAPS and KT Palace grounds.
