Ajay Patil lived up to his top billing to outclass L U Chiraag in straight games and win the under-16 boys’ singles title in the Wearhouse 17th State-ranking badminton tournament at the Sadashivanagar Club courts here on Tuesday.
Patil, who missed the State-ranking tournament at the ARI courts last week, posted a 21-9, 21-11 victory over the sixth seed Chiraag to emerge champion.
In another final, S Siddharth got the better of Shiv Nayak 21-18, 12-21, 21-18 to lift the under-13 boys’ singles title.
In hte men’s section, V Amar moved into the quarterfinals with a comprehensive 21-7, 21-12 win over M Shiva Kumar.
D Guruprasad scored an equally emphatic 21-6, 21-7 win over the hapless Anil Pradhan in another pre-quarterfinal clash.
