Trampled

Thimmaiah (50), a resident of Hakki Pikki colony near Bannerghatta National Park died, after he was trampled by an elephant on Tuesday, when he come out of his residence to address nature’s call.

Thieves thrashed

The employees of a jewellery shop in Kumbarpet beat up three robbers who tried to rob ornaments worth lakhs of rupees and then handed them over to the police, on Tuesday.

The three  accused are Shubhankar (34), Shahajan (19) and Sajid (26), all from West Bengal. Armed with weapons, they entered the shop situated on the fourth floor around 11 pm and  threatened the employees with fake pistol and lethal weapons and asked them hand over the valuables.

However Rafeeq, who runs an establishment in the shopping complex sensed something was amiss and pulled down shutters on the ground floor trapping the thieves. Within a few minutes a crowd gathered and informed the police control room. The robbers, who had managed to collect gold ornaments worth Rs 18 lakh were thrashed by the employees and the crowd and handed over to the Halasur Gate police, who arrived at the spot.

The Halasur Gate police have registered a case.

Commits suicide

Shashidhar (21), committed suicide by consuming chemical ammonium phosphate. A resident of Magadi, he was studying Law. He was found unconscious in Cubbon Park on Tuesday. Cubbon Park police took him to a hospital, where he breathed his last on Wednesday.

Rs 6 lakh stolen

Thieves made away with valuables worth Rs 6.5 lakh from a flat in Hoysala apartment on Crescent Road on Tuesday. They entered the house by breaking open the main door, when owner of the house Vasanthi, was not at home. High Grounds police have filed a case.

2 get life term

The Bangalore Rural Sessions Courts on Wednesday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for murdering Ramesh, a pygmy collector in 2005. The court sentenced Somashekar and Padmavathi, both residents of Kamalanagar.

Girl killed

A three-and-a-half year old girl was knocked by a lorry on Cheluvaya Road in Rammurthynagar on Wednesday. The victim Keerthana, daughter of a construction worker was playing in front of her house, when the incident took place. She died on the spot.
