The Padukones are a happy lot these days. What if Deepika is playing a different game, she sure has the Padukone fame breathing. Hailed as the most promising newcomer in Bollywood this year, the entire showbiz has fallen nose down for her charm.
With her Bollywood debut ‘Om Shanti Om’ releasing on Diwali, it’s anybody’s guess that Diwali’s not going to be the same this time at the Padukone household. “This will be a very special Diwali for all of us as Deepika’s first Bollywood movie will be releasing on that day. We are all eagerly looking forward to the movie,” says a beaming Prakash Padukone.
About the celebrations they have, Deepika’s mother Ujjala Padukone says that they follow the South Indian tradition. “We make sweets at home and distribute among friends and relatives,” she says. “Even though Deepika lives in Mumbai, she used to make it a point to join us on that day. But since her film is releasing this Diwali, she won’t be able to come down. Instead, we are planning to join her in Mumbai a couple of days before.
On Diwali day, that’s November 8, her film is premiering in London. So myself and Prakash, along with our second daughter will go with her to London,” Ujjala adds. And with Om Shanti Om pitched as the biggest release this year, Deepika too is all set to light up Diwali.
