Transport woes continue
BMTC bus facilities to Shivajinagar from St John’s bus stop and Hosur Road check post are inadequate. Route number 164 from BTM Layout to Shivajinagar takes a circuitous journey.
From Madiwala Masjid to Forum Mall at Hosur Road, one spends more than 30 minutes in this bus. Due to enforcement of one way traffic, Route number 166 does not touch the check post. The same condition prevails in the opposite direction also. It is heart rending to see daily wage earners, school children, college students and office-goers waiting for the bus, and running for it. And when it arrives, these are jam packed. This has already been brought to the notice of BMTC authorities. But, there appears no relief.
It is tough for the conductor to manage the crowd. The cars are running with single seat occupation and the private and hired BMTC buses for IT based private establishments have very few people on board but the BMTC buses meant for the general public are neglected. I hope the government and authorities responsible for public transport will wake up and do something.

Blocked drain
Residents of 13th Cross at HAL 2nd stage (the part where 6th A, B, C Mains touch) are experiencing problems due to a drainage work which is progressing slowly for the past six to eight months. The road is in very bad shape and accident prone.
Drainage and broken sewage pipe water (from resident sewage pipes) are blocking this drain resulting in foul smell, breeding of bacteria and mosquitoes for the past several months. BWSSB water to the affected houses adjacent to this road are getting sewage mixed water with foul smell and worms for the past two to three days.
Unless urgent coordinated work are not done immediately, our health will be affected very badly.
Residents,
HAL 2nd stage.
Water logging
Jeeavankendra Layout is a small layout in the middle of the City on Cambridge Road. Residents of this layout, about 10 houses in particular, were marooned for hours together during heavy rains. Efforts made earlier by the residents did not yield any result in solving the problem.
Now with the help of the BBMP officials, a satisfactory solution for the water logging problem has been found using the horizontal direction drilling method. Kudos to the BBMP engineers for that. A similar initiative by the present commissioner and his deputies will help solve the water logging problem.

Longing for clean air
We stay by the side of the Kaggadasapura lake at the dead end of the sixth cross, Kaggadasapura, C V Raman Nagar. We have been suffering for the last couple of years with no fresh air to breath and our children falling ill. All because of the lake. Instead of cleaning the lake, it is being used as a septic tank by the residents of the many apartments.
The lake is overflowing and where the outlet is, there is white foam. The stench is so bad that we have to put tapes on the window panes to make it air-tight. We cannot open any windows or doors. We are planning to leave the flat.
As tax-paying citizens in the highest income tax bracket, we expect to live in clean surroundings. Would the authorities be kind enough to help us by at least stopping the sewerage dump into the lake and stop the water flow so that the stench is reduced. Our dream of getting the lake cleaned seems far off since people dump waste everyday into the lake. We would like to request the authorities concerned to make this place livable and save the lake.
