Lightning claims three lives

Dharwad, dhns: Three persons died and six injured in lightning strike at Kadabagatti village, near Alnavar of Dharwad taluk, on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Vinod Maruti Piroji (25), Basavaraj Rayappa Cheluvadi (30) and Balu Subhas Cheluvadi (25).

Minor raped, murdered

Nanjangud, dhns: An eight-year-old girl was raped and murdered by an astrologer in the Hura village of the taluk, it is learnt. The accused has been identified as Rangaswamy. The girl’s body was found lying in a plantain farm on the outskirts of the village on Tuesday night.

Kingfisher Express

Bangalore, dhns: Indian Railways has introduced a holiday special train from Gorakhpur to Yeshwanthpur, with United Breweries as partners in the initiative.

The train — Kingfisher Express — will start on November 8 at Yeshwanthpur, north Bangalore and leave for Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.  It will run once a week, stopping at over 18 towns on the way.

The train, starting at Gorakhpur, will stop at Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Barabanki, Lucknow, Kanpur Central, Jhansi, Bhopal, Itarsi, Nagpur, Ramagundam, Secunderabad, Raichur, Guntakal, Anantpur, Dharmavaram, Hindupur, Yelahanka and at Yeshwanthpur.
