Don't delay development projects in the city: DC

Deputy Commissioner S R Umashankar has instructed all the respective officials to identify ineligible BPL beneficiaries in Tumkur district, within next 15 days on a warfooting basis.

Speaking at a  high level  meeting  he asked the officials to  identify those who have  acquired their BPL cards illegally and cancel these.

He also left strict orders that the officials should submit these numbers as a taluk level  report as soon as possible.

Legal action has also been  initiated against those who  were  caught dealing with adulterated petrol and domestic cylinders.

Step  on it
The DC  asked the concerned officials step up the investigations against these crooks to curb this  menace. He also directed the departments to raid these  places and take the necessary legal action against those found guilty. He ordered the licenses of the traders involved in these cases to be  cancelled.

To ensure that the public distribution system is smoothly functioning and the people are being  given the determined quantity of food grains and also keeping a check on the quality of the food grains, the DC asked the officials  to conduct periodic  visits to these shops.

Anti -drought
Umashankar also touched upon the subject of drought relief project in the city. He asked the officials to step up and complete various projects that had been started to address the issue of drought in the  region.
He also cautioned the officials that it was more important to complete the projects than spend entire amount ear marked to combat the drought in the region.

He added additional amounts will be  released by the administration according to taluks to  help facilitate more projects to help during the dry spell.

He warned the officials to avoid delays in the development works in the area.

Special facilities
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officials to identify the physically challenged among the rural families living  below the poverty  lines and  submit a report at the earliest.

He added that those people would  be  given  free sites and other facilities from the district administration.
