He was presiding over the inauguration of the new branch of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike at Nandihalli, near Tumkur, recently.
He said, though it had been announced that the administrative language should be in Kannada, in the State, yet English was being used.
Under the ‘Mahiti Sindhu’ and e-administration, the computers distributed among all the Gram Panchayats were functioning in English.
If the Government fails to use Kannada at such places, then how can the language survive, he questioned.He called upon the members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike to fight against the stand of the Government for having failed to utilise Kannada effectively in the administration.
The youth should fight for the language, he added.
President of the Cultural wing of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Gururaj Hoskote said, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has been organising various programmes for the preservation of land and language, keeping in view the interests of the State.
Regional parties
The regional parties in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have grown up into strong political parties which are fighting for the welfare their respective states.
However, in Karnataka it is not so, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Zilla Panchayat member K A Devaraju said, Kannada should get prominence in Karnataka. Kannada should become a rich language and everybody and everything should function in Kannada.
In the recent days, Kannada was fast disappearing in the urban areas, while, in the rural areas, it was still existent, this was a matter of great concern and pain, he expressed.

Junior Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt Siddalinga Swamiji inaugurated the programme and blessed. District Karnataka Rakshana Vedike President Tanuj Kumar, General Secretary T E Raghuram, President of Nandihalli branch Vishnuvardhan, General Secretary Venkatesh and several others were present on the occasion.
Senior Gandhian N M Maharudraradhya was felicitated.
