'Haralayya's ideals are relevant even today'
DH News Service, Tumkur:
The inauguration of the drama "Shivasharana Haralayya" was inaugurated in Tumkur recently.

The inauguration of the drama “Shivasharana Haralayya” was inaugurated in Tumkur recently. The drama was held under the auspices of Maha Shivasharana Haralayya Gurupeetha and Maha Shivasharana Haralayya Kala Sangha. The organiser’s objective is to exhibit the drama in all parts of the State.

Inaugurating the drama, Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University Dr O Anantharamaiah said, the sacrifices of well-known Shivasharana Haralayya are famous in the State. The drama presentation is a good task in popularising the ideals followed by Shivasharana Haralayya.

He complimented Seer Basava Haralayya Swamiji of Shivasharana Haralayya Gurupeetha for undertaking this task.

The Shivasharanas of the 12th century brought in a social and religious revolution, which are ideal in the present conditions in the society. The thoughts promoted by the Shivasharanas in those times are relevant even today, the V-C added.

Releasing the portrait of Haralayya Kalyanamma, poet K B Siddayya said, Haralayya was the soul of the religious and social movement. The seeds of communal harmony was sown in the 12th century itself. Such dramas should be exhibited in all the villages in the State, to create awareness among the people, he added.

Seer Sevalal Swamiji of Lambani Gurupeetha, who graced the occasion, said, the thoughts and ideals of Haralayya have remained recorded only in the books. However, by presenting a drama, it would be more a suitable task in spreading his ideologies.

The spirit and guidance behind the drama, Seer Basava Haralayya Swamiji expressed his discontent over the fact that the principles and ideals of Basavanna in the recent days were being destroyed in the hands of communists.
In order to create awareness among the rural people about the thoughts and ideals of the Shivasharanas, the drama was produced by the Haralayya Kala Sangha which will be staged at various villages, the Swamiji added.

Presiding over the function, Seer of Viraktamath of Gulbarga Siddabasava Kabeer Swamiji said, the principles of the Veerashaiva religion, like Kayaka, Samanathe, Jatyateetate, should be followed in the society.

Seer Basava Mahalinga Swamiji of Basava Kendra of Tumkur also shared his views.

President of the District Adi Jambava Sangha Narasiyappa, President of the State Madiga Dandora Association Shankarappa, Cheluru Venkatesh, Anasuya Muddurangaiah, CMC members Wale Chandru, Hanumantharayappa, Muniyappa, Bandakunte Nagarajaiah, State General Secretary of the Madiga Dandora Association of Pavagada Shriram, Shriramayya, Nitturu Rampura Sadananda, Lakshmandas, Basavaraj Swamy and others were present on the occasion.
