The much awaited demand for Bangalore-Mangalore train service will be realised on November 15, said Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Talacauvery, he said ‘Rilway Security Commissioner had submitted certain objection for starting of railway service owing to the security reason in the route. This delayed the starting of the train service. However, we will not postpone it beyond November 15.”
He said as per the policy of the Centre, new railawy projects will be undertaken only if State spends 50 per cent of the total project.
‘Kartnataka not neglected’
Mr Velu clarified that Karnataka has not been neglected in implementing various railway projects. The State government has come forward to spend 2/3 of the total expenditure for the broadguage of Mysore-Bangalore railway line.
Government is giving priority for starting of new trains in Karnataka, broadguaging of railway line and electrification. Reservation ticket booking counters will be started in all the district headquarters in the State.
