A call on his cellphone proved costly for an assistant engineer of Agriculture Department who accidentally fell down and was killed on the spot in Sheshadripuram police limits.
According to police, Rathna Kumar (54), a resident of Bannerghatta, got a call when he was in his office on the top floor of a multi-storeyed building on Sheshadripuram main road.
The building had no parapet wall. Kumar stepped outside engrossed in conversation. He lost balance, fell from the top floor and died.
Bike thief nabbed
The Byappanahalli police arrested one person on the charge of stealing bikes and recovered eight two-wheelers worth Rs three lakh.
M L Yatish (20) of Halasur, was arrested at Nagarpalya main road when he was riding a bike in a suspicious manner. He also failed to produce relevant documents. Later, he admitted of having lifted bikes from Indiranagar, Halasur, Frazer Town, Mahadevapura etc.
