The elections to the Tumkur CMC which went according to expected lines with no party getting a clear majority, however has seen the Congress bagging 15 seats. The BJP which had held the reigns of the administration the last two times has managed just 90 seats this time. JD (S) has got six seats and Left parties one. Four independents have won.

According to the present status the Congress is likely to get power. It needs just three seats for a clear majority. It has hopes of getting the support of four independents and the Left. In the fight between the JD (S) and BJP in Tiptur and Sira which have been upgraded to a CMC status, no party has got a clear majority. In Pavagada, Chikkanayakanahalli, Madhugiri, Korategere and Turuvekere BJP has not bagged even a single seat. In Madhugiri Congress has emerged as the largest party with 10 seats. Except in Tumkur and Madhugiri JD (S) has emerged as the largest party in other places.

It looks like JD (S) which has seven seats in Kunigal has dipped into the Congress bag to get a clear majority.
