After a gap of 15 years, Congress has gained an upper hand in Gudibande Town Panchayat elections by winning 5 seats out of 11 seats in panchayat. JD(S) which was in power last time has managed to get only 1 seat on the otherhand, BJP which had gone for a seat adjustment with JD(S) has managed to retain its 2 seats which it had won in last election. CPI(M) has won one seat though it had contested on all 11 seats. To the surprise, 2 seats were won by independents. Ward-wise list of winning candidates and the number of votes are as follows,
Ward 1- G M Anil Kumar (Cong) 279 votes, Ward 2- Asha Jayappa (CPI(M)) 204 votes, Ward 3-A Chennamma (Cong) 318 votes, Ward 4- B A Rajesh (BJP) 142 votes, Ward 5- T Narayanappa (Cong) 438 votes, Ward 6- Ramanjinamma (Cong) 150 votes, Ward 7- Ismail Azad (Cong) 315 votes, Ward 8- Manjula (JD(S)) 187 votes, Ward 9- Jabeen Taj (independent) 273 votes, Ward 10- Lakshmipati (BJP) 221 votes and from ward 11- G V Anand (independent) gathered 207 votes.
Supporters of the Cong, BJP, JD(S), CPI(M) and independents candidates celebrated their party’s victory.
