Cong vs BJP: It is a free-for-all fight
DH News Service, Bangarpet:
The BJP and Congress are at it. again In the recently conducted municipal elections , the congress has emerged as the single largest party.

However it does not have the required numbers and absolute majority to stake a claim for power. But that has not deterred it from trying  every trick in the book to assume power.

The BJP also is working furiously towards keeping its arch rival out of the  office and gain entry itself.

Cong game plan
The Congress had 11 seats out of the 23 and  is trying to form a government with the support of Janata dal and is also trying woo the other legislators to fill in the  numbers that it will require. However nothing concrete has been arrived upon yet.

BJP’s target
The BJP on the other hand surprised all and exceeded all expectations to win 7 seats. The gain in their  popularity has unsettled both the Congress and the Janata Dal and therefore it is no surprise that it too is holding secret meetings to assume office.

The party will need more than  5 to 6 members to support it if it  has to assume power.  The independents and the Janata Dal’s support for that. B P Venkatmuniappa is a busy man these days trying to organise the numbers for his party. It however remains to be seen, how successful those efforts are.

State politics
Given the  fact that the BJP withdrew its support at the state  level, many of them doubt if Janata Dal (S) would be willing to help out at the local level. But even if it is considering the option, the Congress will surely try and keep this from happening.

Personal equations
Since Central minister K H Muniappa and former district in-charge minister Alangur Srinivas are known to share a great rapport with each other and it is very likely the Muniappa will strike a deal with Srinivas to keep BJP out of power.

King makers
It is here that the  independents become the king makers and both the parties are trying  to woo  them with all the  goodies. According to one  source the two have even tried buy them.  Things will certainly heat up even further once the reservation list is announced for the positions of President and Vice president.
