Mid-term polls only way out: Poojari
Bangalore, UNI:
The Congress was not for cobbling up an arrangement with any political outfit and was ready to face elections, he said.

Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojari

claimed that mid-term polls to Karnataka Assembly was the only

solution to end the political impasse in the state.

Talking to newspersons here, he said Governor Rameshwar Thakur had

no other option but to recommend dissolution of the Assembly in the

present scenario. The Congress was not for cobbling up an

arrangement with any political outfit and was ready to face

elections, he added.

He alleged that both Bharatiya Jantata Party (BJP) and the Janata

Dal (Secular) had betrayed the people. It was unfortunate that the

BJP leader went to the people crying that he could not get the Chief

Ministership. This was something unheard of in the state's politics

so far, he said.

Asked about some of his party leaders making an effort to form

an alternative government with the support of JD(S), he ridiculed

the idea and said his party supremo Sonia Gandhi was very firm

against such ideas.

''Our leaders can try their best. But ultimately they will come to

know about the reality,'' he said.

He did not comment on the attempt being made by Union Minister

M V Rajasekharan to form a government with the help of JD(S) and

merely said Mr Rajasekharan was one of his good friends.
