Christ College seeks 'deemed varsity' status

Christ College happens to be one of the 18 colleges from Karnataka to apply for the deemed-to-be university status.


It’s not only the professional colleges which are applying for ‘deemed to be’ university status. The degree colleges too are moving towards this direction. Christ College (autonomous) has applied for this status.

Following this, an inspection team visited the college in the first week of the October.

According to the Christ College official, the advantage of getting deemed university status is more research activities can be conducted.

Christ College happens to be one of the 18 colleges from Karnataka to apply for the deemed-to-be university status.

The other colleges are: Dr U Krishna Muniyal Institute of Ancient Wisdoms, Manipal; Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Society, Ujire, Dharmasthala; Sri Rajrajeshwari Medical and Technological Research Institute, Hubli; JSS Mahavidyalaya, Mysore; Ahimsa International Institute of Higher Education and Research, Bangalore; PES Institutions, Bangalore; Sri Shiddhartha Education Society, Tumkur; Institute of Finance and International Management, Bangalore; International Institute for Aerospace Engineering and Management, Bangalore: National Institute of Prakrit Studies, Shravanabelagola; R V College of Engineering, Bangalore; Gokula Education Foundation, MS Ramaiah Education and Research, Bangalore; Academy of Sanskrit Research, Melkote; Yenepoya University, Mangalore; NITTE University, Mangalore; BLDE University, Bijapur and Narayana Hrudayalaya Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore.
