Karnataka upset defending champion Assam 3-0 to claim the women’s team championship title in the seventh all India BSNL carrom tournament at Peddem sports complex on Friday.

Karnataka women faced little trouble against a much fancied opposition as they applied pressure on their opponents right from the start and give nothing away.

In the men’s category, Maharashtra retained the team championship as they got the better of Tamil Nadu 2-1
Farat Ali rallied from a set down to beat R Babu 20-25 25-12, 25-16 to give Maharashtra 1-0 lead. Santosh Sawant then put the victory beyond doubt for Maharashtra when he easily beat V Sathish of Tamil Nadu 25-2, 25-5 in the second singles.
