It is now defensive H D Kumaraswamy. He is defending himself. He is defending his father. And, he is defending all the decisions taken by himself and his party from September 30 to October 8.
The former chief minister has also ‘found’ the reasons as to why his one time deputy B S Yediyurappa could not realise his dream of becoming chief minister.
Addressing a press conference at the Party office, former chief minister Kumaraswamy said national leaders of the BJP had twin objectives to achieve - tarnish his (Kumaraswamy’s) image and ensure that Yediyurappa did not become CM so that the sympathy factor could be encashed for electoral gains.
“Instead of playing with emotions of the masses, the BJP leaders should tell the public what developments happened between September 30 and October 8”, he challenged.
BJP’s contract
The BJP has taken the contract of ‘safeguarding’ Hindu religion and claims authority over Lord Ram. “If they really have faith in Lord Rama, they should tell the public what their leader Yashwant Sinha discussed with JD (S) leader H D Deve Gowda in a secret meeting”, he said.
BJP national leader Yashwant Sinha held the secret meeting with Deve Gowda in the midnight of September 30.
In the meeting he did not discuss transfer of power. Instead, he demanded that the JD(S) should support the BJP at the Centre and help L K Advani to become prime minister. The talks failed because Deve Gowda did not accept Sinha’s demand, he said. “I and my father never said that power will not be handed over to the BJP.
But the BJP leaders did not want to have Yediyurappa as CM. I am ready for an open debate on this issue on a common platform with BJP leaders”, he said.
Mr Kumaraswamy said he was not afraid of dharmayuddha campaign by the BJP. “Taking out rallies is culture of the BJP. I am not going to sit quiet at home. I will also go to the public with developments achieved during the last 20 months”, he said.
