The High Court on Friday granted an interim order against interference with possession of certain lands in Poojanahalli in Devanahalli taluk for the works said to be taken up for forming a road connecting to Devanahalli international airport.
While passing the order, the court expressed dissatisfaction that the stay was being granted without being able to verify the genuineness of the documents produced by the petitioners, owing to non-cooperation on part of government agencies.
Director moves HC
Kannada film director S Narayan has moved HC against a notice issued to him by State Women’s Commission seeking his appearance for an investigation of a complaint in connection with his recent hit movie, Cheluvina Chittara.
Narayan’s petition filed on Friday has sought the court to quash the notice issued by Women’s Commission on September 21 as without jurisdiction and authority. It has also sought to quash the complaint filed by N V Venkataramanaiah and others, pursuant to which the Commission issued the notice. The complaint is said to have objected to showing Amulya, the heroine studying in ninth standard, wearing school uniform and romancing with Ganesh, the hero who is twice her age, in college premises.
Tariff hike upheld
The High Court upheld the enhancement of insurance premium payable for passenger buses in respect of third party liability.
Justice Ajit J Gunjal rejected the petition filed by Karnataka State Bus Owners’ Federation against the circular issued by Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority’s Tariff Advisory Committee on January 23.
Proceedings stayed
The HC stayed further proceedings on a demolition notice issued by BBMP in respect of S S Wimbledon Park on Race Course Road. The order followed a petition by the builder Nitesh Estates.
Life term for two
The division Bench comprising Justice V G Sabhahit and Justice R B Naik confirmed life sentences imposed on Puttarve Gowda of Achalu grama in Ramanagar taluk and Chandra alias Lokesh of Ramanagar town, Bangalore Rural district for murdering Seethamma, a resident of Bhavaninagar, Bangalore during 2002. However, the Court set aside the conviction and sentence imposed on another accused in the case, Sampathkumar of Bhavaninagar and acquitted him.
