Three killed in separate accidents
Bangalore, DHNS:
Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in the City on Saturday.

Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in the City on Saturday. Raju (24) was killed on Bangalore-Kanakapura Road after his bike was knocked down by a speeding KSRTC bus. The bus driver is absconding.

In Adugodi traffic police limits, Mariyappa (22) was killed on the spot when his bike dashed against a pedestrian in front of Crystle Jed Apartments in Bellandur. Pedestrian Rajagopal is battling for life at a hospital.

Parthabol (28) was killed on the spot near Netra Park on Nelluralli Main Road when he was knocked down by a motorbike. The rider is absconding.

Three detained

The Police have detained three people, including the husband, in connection with the death of a woman at Hulimavu two days ago.

During the interrogation, husband Manjanna admitted that he, with the help of his two brothers-in-law, had strangled his wife Ramakka (45) suspecting her fidelity. However, he had complained that she had committed suicide on Friday night. The post mortem had revealed that the victim had been strangled and then hanged.

Burn victim dies

A woman, who sustained burns when her live-in partner pushed her on the gas stove four days ago, succumbed on Saturday night at the Victoria Hospital.

The police said 30-year-old Rani was living with one Mangesh in a Hulimvavu slum after her husband died seven years ago.

A mother of three, Rani was working as a maid, while a drunkard Mangesh was never going for work, said police sources.

Family members told the police that Mangesh had sold all her ornaments to meet his needs. On October 10, Rani asked him for some money as festival was approaching. This enraged Mangesh and he slapped her. Irked with this response, Rani poured kerosene and threatened to immolate herself. This made Mangesh furious and he pushed her towards the burning stove. Police have taken Mangesh into their custody.

Still critical

The condition of the four firemen, who are being treated at Mahabodhi Mallige Hospital, continues to be critical.
“All the four are stable but their condition is still critical. The other 14 injured are recovering fast,” plastic surgeon Dr G Mahesh said.

The Basavangudi police have registered cases against the thinner shop owners Prakash and Mahesh following a complaint. They were storing the thinner illegally.

“We will arrest them soon,” inspector A E Vasudeva Rao said.

Seventeen personnel of Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services and a traffic sub inspector sustained burns in an accidental fire in Basavangudi police limits on October 12.
