Five persons were injured in a clash which took place inside a mosque in Bharatinagar police limits on Sunday.
The injured have been rushed to a hospital and are said to be out of danger.
According to sources, one of the office-bearers of the mosque in Bharatinagar and his four supporters tried to obstruct the people who had gathered there to offer prayers.
They said that it was improper to celebrate Ramzan on Sunday, as all Muslims in Saudi Arabia, Mangalore and Kerala celebrated it on Saturday.
As the office-bearer lectured on the issue, four of his associates began distributing pamphlets among the people.
This irked the people present there and they began manhandling the office-bearer and his supporters. In the melee the five received injuries.
Elderly persons intervened and brought situation under control. When contacted, Bharatinagar police denied such a incident.
