Tumkur University has organised a two-day seminar beginning on October 15 on the topic, ‘Karnataka unification agitation--Aims and problems.
Former Mangalore and Goa Universities’ vice chancellor Prof B Sheik Ali will inaugurate the seminar at the Post Graduate Research centre. Gandhian H S Doreswamy and Usha Suresh will be the guests.
Vice chancellor O Anantharamaiah will preside. After the inauguration, seminars will begin. Prof G Ramarathnam will present a paper on Madras-Karnataka unification agitation, Dr H S Gopal Rao on Mumbai-Karnataka unification agitation, Prof S G Ghatpanadi on Hyderabad-Karnataka agitation, Prof R Rajanna on Mysore rule agitation and Prof M V Srinivas on Kodagu. Prof K R Basavarj and Prof G M Srinivasaiah will preside.
On Tuesday morning Prof Abdul Azeez will present a paper on Karnataka unification and economic problems, Prof Sebestian Joseph on Colonialism reaction to Karnataka unification and Dr C R Govindaraju on agitation’s cultural issues will present papers. Dr Suryanath Kamat and Prof H G Srinavasamurthy will preside. The valedictory function will be held at 3 pm and Varangal Kakatiya university former vice chancellor Prof Y Vaikuntam will deliver the valedictory address.
