Mysoreans and visitors laughing to their heart’s content at the ‘Hasyotsava’; karate competitions coming to an end and ‘Dasara Kishore’ and ‘Dasara Kumar’ titles in wrestling being declared; preliminary rounds in other wrestling categories being held.
Cultural events including dance, drama and music were unveiled at eight venues in the city; fusion dance and performance by bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan at ‘Yuva Dasara’, along with the unveiling of the glory and achievements of the Vijayanagar Empire in a sound and light show (that goes on till October 22) at the Oval grounds.
These were some of the highlights of Day Three of Dasara festival.
Enthusiasm picked up at homes in the city as well for ‘gombe habba’. Cultural programmes were also held at the Dasara exhibition venue, as well as Curzon Park, the venue of the flower show.
Rich fare
At the Palace premises, the rich folk tradition of the region, Carnatic veena recital by M K Saraswathi and party and Hindustani recital by Seema Patil and party was lapped up by the sizable Sunday evening crowd.
Artistes performed ‘Yellamma’ dance, ‘Budbudke’ dance, ‘Siddappaji haadu’ accompanied by beating of ‘Jaggalike’ enthralled the audience. Siddappagji dance is perhaps folk version of what is called rebel literature. Hebri Madaiah’s Kamsale trouple, Krupa Phadke’s students and those of Surana college, Bangalore, held audience in awe.
