Industrialist robbed in City

Four unidentified persons made an industrialist to drive them around the City in his car and later robbed him before pushing him out of the car on Hosur road on Monday morning.


Four unidentified persons made an industrialist to drive them around the City in his car and later robbed him before pushing him out of the car on Hosur road on Monday morning. The car was later found near Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border.

According to the police, Pankaj Singh, a resident of Dasarahalli, was returning home when the miscreants forcibly got into his car in Hebbal around 11.15 pm. Pankaj was made to fill the fuel tank by shelling out Rs 1000. They forced him to draw Rs 20,000 from three different ATMs. When they were exhausted, they snatched his watch, two cellphones and jewellery and drove away in the car around 4 am, added the police.

Singh then contacted one of his friends and narrated the incident.  The police had launched a search as Singh’s wife had complained that her husband had not returned home. With his friend’s help Singh returned home.

Pedestrian killed

A 54-year-old pedestrian was killed on the spot when he was knocked down by a BMTC bus in Upparpet traffic police station limits on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ravindra, a resident of  Chamarajpet. He was a manager in Port of Pavilion hotel. According to police, the mishap occurred in front of hotel Amar, when Ravindra was crossing the road. The bus driver is absconding.

Man commits suicide

A 53-year-old man committed suicide by hanging at his residence near Sumangali Sevashrama in Hebbal police station limits on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Krishnappa, a resident of Hebbal. According to the police, he had two wives and used to quarrel with them quite often over the property issue.

Excess liquor

A 45-year-old man died after consuming excess liquor in DJ Halli police station limits on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sudhakar Reddy, a resident of Kaverinagar. According to the police, Reddy, a labourer, was an alcoholic. On Sunday evening, he drank too much of liquor and slept in a temple near his house. Some of his relatives noticed and tried to wake him up, but he was dead.
