The hartal call given by Sangh Parivar, in protest against the assault on Kasargod City Municipal Council member and BJP leader P Ramesh, was complete on Monday, consequently the normal life was totally disrupted.
Including KSRTC buses no vehicles plied. Only some two-wheelers were seen on road. A few jeeps and autorickshaws started their beats in the evening, while a few shops were also opened here and there.
The buses coming from Kanhangad stranded at Poinachi-Udama, while those from Mangalore side stopped at Talapady. Hartal activists blocked roads at Karandakkad near the City. They also held a protest jatha across the City.
Muslim Youth League (Kasargod division) President V M Munir and Secretary Ashraf Edanir have urged that the Sangh Parivar leaders should give explanation to the inconvenience caused to the common people in Kasaragod due to the bundh call given by them in the name of a quarrel between two goonda troupes.
Including elected representatives, some people are leading goondaism. It is a challenge that the people’s representatives who had to provide protection to people are involved in acts spoiling peace of the society. Police should suppress such goonda acts, they urged.
Muslim League Nagarasabha Secretary A Abdul Rahiman said the Sangh Parivar should clarify that against whom they had given hartal call. “The normal life has been suffering from the goondaism of Sangh Parivar. Elected representatives are supporting this. It is a shame,” he added.
