Varthur Prakash in the pretext of rendering a helping hand to the poor and the religious institutions is polluting the political environment. Thus, he needs to be boycotted in the region, said Congress leader Chikkahanumaiah.
He was addressing the press meet, which was organised by the former Congress CMC members and the defeated Congress candidates in the local body elections.
Varthur Prakash who entered the politics of the Kolar region during the felicitation of the former deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah worked towards the welfare of the Ahind section, which is commendable.
However, later as certain steps initiated by him was in contrast to the current political scenario, we condemn his moves and hence intend to boycott him from the party.
In politics winning and losing is a part of the game. However, politics needs to be practiced based on ideology. In the recent local body elections, Varthur Prakash and his followers splurged money and won the election, which is in contravention to the party ideology, accused Mr Chikkahanumaiah.
Due to this kind of lowly politics a bad environment has been created in the city. Moreover, the people are broken down into various groups seething with hatred and an atmosphere of fear is being created.
If the informed public doesn't act now then they would have to face dire consequences in the future, observed the Congress leader.
Moreover, the followers of Varthur Prakash are responsible for the defeat of the official Congress candidates in the Kolar CMC elections, accused CMC member L Khalil.
Mr Varthur has lured the voters by presenting them with silver coins, tumblers and money, if this kind of practices continue then the future of politics in the region seems bleak, he observed.
Also, present in the meet were CMC former member Subramanya, Chenna Veeraiah, Ramalinga Gupta and others.
