No power supply today

Shidlaghatta, dhns: Due to the maintenance work of the 220 KV electric tower at Chintamani circle here, there will be no electric supply on Wednesday from 10.30 am to 6 pm in the taluk said BESCOM’s assistant executive engineer Amarnath, in a release.

Applications invited

Kolar, dhns:  Association for the Physically Handicapped, Kamathampalli,Srinivaspur taluk, is running a free hostel for those who have failed in their SSLC exams and those who have   studied till 8th and 9th standard and have discontinued their studies.

Those who have failed in their SSLC exams and those who  are preparing for their SSLC exams and are in the age group of 16 to 20 are eligible to apply before October 20 and can send in their applications to Association for the Physically Handicapped, Kamathampalli, Thadigol Post, Srinivaspur taluk, Kolar district.

Monks pray for free Tibet

Kushalnagar, dhns: Buddhist monks at Luxang Sam Duk Ling camp in Bailukuppe here prayed for an autonomous Tibet and democracy in Burma by lighting candles on Tuesday. The monks under the aegis of Bailukuppe Tibetan Hakkugalu mattu Swatantrya Punarsthapane Samiti, Pradeshika Tibetan Youth Congress and Tibetan Mahila Sangha, conducted a candle light procession too.

Earlier to this, they prayed for world peace by holding candles. They urged that Tibetans should be given religious freedom in China and protection should be provided to Tibetan religious leaders.

Buddhist guru Loxang, Tibetan Hakkugala Punarsthapana Samiti President Bopsang Paldan and Youth Congress President Pema Sehwang among others were present.
