A 12.5-foot unique Hanuman statue was unveiled at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple on Tuesday. Rajya Sabha Member B Janardhana Poojary inaugurated the statue by offering special pooja.
Speaking on the occasion, film producer K P Nanjundi commended Mr Poojary as the leader of the mass, who has not restricted his service to any particular community.
He said his faith in Lord Gokarnanatha had always resulted in his prosperity, and recalled incidents which increased his faith in the almighty.
Mr Poojary, in his address, said many people having no experience in politics have got good position in politics by having faith in Lord Gokarnanatha. “Whatever work we do, it is not ours; it is of the Lord,” he stressed.
Mumbai Bharat Co-operative Bank and Rashtriya Billawa Mahamandala President Jaya C Suvarna presided. MLAs Abhayachandra Jain, U T Khader, District Congress President B Ramanath Rai among others were present. Mr Devadas Suvarna and N Chandrashekhar were honoured for their achievements on the occasion.
The giant statue is made of cement plaster, after vigorous efforts of 28 consecutive days by sculptor Rajashekhar and team from Shimoga.
