Forum demands road repair
Tariker, DHNS:

Nagarika Hithasakti Samiti members under the leadership of Former MLA B R Neelakantappa submitted a memorandum to Sub Divisional Officer Dr M T Reju on Tuesday demanding for immediate repair of the roads and also staged a protest symbolically on this regard. The protesters held a silent walk from Pravasi Mandir to Mini Vidhana soudha and then submitted the memorandum to Dr Reju.

They said that the road from Bettadahalli to M C Halli, the stretch where NH-206 passes through the town is filled with potholes. Apart from this Ajjampura to Lakkavalli road, Birur to Shivani road, Ajjampura to Hosadurga road and several other important roads are completely spoilt.

They said that though the officials have been saying that crores of rupees have been released for road repair and same have been utilised for the purpose, no roads have been repaired in the last four years. Suspecting that the funds must have been misused, the protesters demanded a probe into the matter and also said that action must be taken to make the roads motorable. Responding to the memorandum, Reju said that he would hold a meeting with the officials concerned and take appropriate action.

Taluk panchayat former member Lakkvalli Umashankar has called the symbolic protest staged by former MLA B R Neelakantappa as a ‘political drama’ and said that Mr Neelakantappa has not staged the protest with any concern for the people.
