A 24-year-old man was killed on the spot and his pregnant wife injured on Wednesday afternoon after a speeding BMTC bus rammed their bike on Arkere Main Road in Mico layout traffic police limits.
Mohammad Haneef, a supervisor at a private company, had married Mahalakshmi (22) about a year go despite opposition from the girl’s family.
Haneef lost balance after the bike rubbed a cycle carrying heavy luggage. As they fell down, the bus, which was coming from behind, ran over Haneef. Bus driver Abdul Gafur (30) has been arrested.
According to the police, the two had fallen in love when Mahalakshmi was working in a garment factory. Haneef’s parents, who are into agriculture, came to know about his marriage only when the police contacted them to inform about his death.
Man stabbed to death
Some unknown miscreants on Tuesday night stabbed to death an unidentified person, aged around 35, in Yelahanka police limits. Motive behind the crime is not know.
Two arrested
