Samiti plans NH-17 bundh on Oct 30

Rashtriya Heddari 17 Horata Samiti on Wednesday unanimously adopted a resolution to stage a protest (bundh) on NH 17 on October 30 demanding permanent solution to the pathetic condition of the highway which has created havoc in the life of travellers, here at a meeting at Brahmavar on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Varamballi Grama Panchayath Vice President Govindraj Hegde informed that this protest is supported by all political parties, NGO groups, Bus Owners Association and Rotary clubs of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. This decision has been taken by the members of the Samiti irrespective of their party differences, Mr Hegde informed.


Free dental camp held

Kushalnagar, dhns: Kodagu Dental College had organised a free dental camp at Vivekananda PU College recently. Nearly 550 students and 50 teachers were benefited from the free dental camp. 

Speaking on the occasion, Community Dentistry Department Head Dr Jithesh said all of us should take care of teeth.

Kodagu Dental College  Principal M G Prabhudev, Trustee K M Girish, Town Panchayat member N N Shambhulingappa among others were present on  the occasion.

Woman dies after run over by a bus

Srinivaspur, dhns: A woman died after a KSRTC bus hit her at the KSRTC bus stand in the town here.

The bus KA07-F6038 which belonged to KSTRC, hit the woman Venkatamma of Bangawadi village who was standing. She died on spot due to excess loss of blood as the bus ran over her leg. Though she was admitted to the hospital, the treatment failed and she died.

Somashekhar, Sub Inspector of Srinivaspur Police station arrested the driver of the bus Apsar and produced him before the court.
