2 Tulu books released
DH News Service, Mangalore:

History is either exaggerated or completely neglected in our country. As historical sense is vanishing among people, more number of historical plays must be written, said eminent litterateur Amruth Someshwar.

Speaking after releasing the books ‘Mannda Magal Abbakka’ and ‘Dharmogu Dharmada Savaal’ authored by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President M K Seetharam Kulal at Tulu Chavadi here on Wednesday, he said most of the traces of the icon Rani Abbakka have vanished from Ullal, as people did not bother to either study or preserve them.

A grand memorial should have been constructed to commemorate the first lady freedom fighter of the country. Moreover, a chair to study Rani Abbakka should have been set up in Mangalore University. Historical plays will help to interpret and probe into history. However, history and historical plays are different.

Historical plays cannot give complete details about history.  There is a need to conduct more indepth study of history, he pointed out.

Folk art expert Dr Gananath Ekkar said plays are created as script and recreated by the director as plays. History is artistically presented in plays, but writing such plays too demand much study. He lamented that very few historical plays get published.

Folk art expert Dr Vaman Nandavar spoke about ‘Dharmogu Dharmada Savaal’.

Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple Managing Trustee Sharavu Raghavendra Shastry presided over the programme.

MUDA former president K Tejomaya, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President M K Seetharam Kulal and his wife Shubha S Kulal were present.
