Southern Railway Palakkad division has clarified that there is no extension of Matsyagandha train to Trivandrum unlike the reports appeared in a section of the media over the past few days. A press release from the division said that Train No 2620/2619 Mangalore-Lokmanya Tilak-Mangalore Matsyagandha Express is a separate train as it was.
The confusion appears to be created by the rake links of these two trains since the empty rake of Train No 2619 Lokmanya Tilak-Mangalore Matsyagandha Express on arrival at Mangalore is used to run Train No 6348 M’lore-Trivandrum Express. In the other direction, the empty rake of Train No 6347 Trivandrum-Mangalore Express is used to run Train No-2620 M’lore-Lokmanya Tilak Matsyagandha Express, which gives the impression that it is a single train from Kurla to Trivandrum and vice-versa.
