A person was killed in a wild elephant attack at Devammacchi forest area near Siddapura.  The deceased has been identified as Ramu (55), a resident of Channangi Chottepare in Channayyanakote gram panchayat limits.

The incident occurred when a wild elephant waylaid Ramu and Thammaiah who were returning from Chowti temple. The elephant trampled Ramu to death. While Thammaiah was chased by the elephant. In the melee, he suffered injuries. Though Ramu was rushed to the hospital, he breathed his last on the way.  Ramu is survived by his wife and four children.
