Best farmer award

Bangalore Agricultural University will be awarding best farmer and lady farmers from each district on the eve of Krishi Mela-2007 in the premises of GKVK which will be held in the month of November.

The awardees will be given Rs 1,000 along with the award. Interested can get the application forms from any of the offices of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal husbandry, Sericulture and Fisheries, Agriculture and Science Centre, Kurabur Farm, Chintamani within October 24, said the co-ordinator of the programme.

Grievances meet to  be held on Oct 19

As there is a public holiday on October 20 on account of Ayudha Pooja, the public grievances meet has been advanced to October 19, said a release from the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

Cheques distributed

Zilla Panchayat President Nagaratnamma distributed cheques of Rs 2,000 to 25 persons who have been effected from natural calamities from Srinivaspur, Mulbagal, Kolar. Vice President of Zilla Panchayat R Venkatarama Reddy, Chief Executive Engineer Suryanarayana Rao, ZP member Hanumanthappa and others were present.

Applications invited

Applications have been invited from Backward and other backward community Welfare department for students studying above 10the standard who are in need of hostel facilities.

The application forms can be got from the District Officer, Backward and other backward community Welfare department of the Executive Officer, Taluk Panchayat Mulbagal and apply within October 24, said a release.
