Last year, Bangalore registered over 20,000 pairs of feet on the roads. This year the City is all set to run faster and gather more steam.
The Bangalore International Marathon (BIM),is recognized by The Association of International Marathons and Road Races and conforms to the highest standards of sportsmanship. “The second edition of this event has captured the imagination of international runners. This year will once again see participation from several top international and national marathon runners, besides active participation from enthusiastic Bangaloreans. There will added attraction s like a Senior Citizenship Run, a Pet March, a Handicap Run and a Childrens' Run. We are also attempting to have a traffic free route. The Chip timing technology will be used to check the timing of the runners," Neeraj Verma, Director Operations, Crossover Sports was quoted as saying in a release.
Participants in Bangalore International Marathon 2007 will run for a social cause. Proceeds from the Marathon will be chanellized for the various NGO's. Over 156 NGOs working on social causes ranging from Child Rights and You, Education, Community Welfare and Disability, to Environment, Wildlife and Animal Rights.
