The BJP on Wednesday welcomed Tamil superstar Rajnikanth’s statement that the sentiments of the people should be considered while implementing the Sethusamudram project and asked the UPA government not to destroy the Ram Sethu. 

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the issue of destroying the Ram Sethu is not only about religious belief but also about the impact it will have on the environment.  “The United Progressive Alliance government has addressed the concerns of its allies and is changing its decisions. It should also consider the sentiments of crores of people,” said Prakash Javedekar.
