Taluk Panchayat member B N Lokesh has said that organising NSS camps in rural areas not only brings about an awareness about cleanliness but also helps in the increase of literacy in the area.
He was speaking after inaugurating the special NSS camp of Sriswami PU College at Holalugunda village in Kunigal taluk and said the participants will also develop service mindedness by being involved in shramadan.
Principal J B Mallappa presided. Organisation president Vardaraju unfurled the flag. Camp officer K H Venkatesh read out the oath. Taluk Panchayat chief executive officer H R Nagegowda, Kodigehalli GP president Chikkamma Ramachandra, head mistress Mamatamani, SDMC president K B Gopal and others were present.Participant Mubeena rendered the invocation, Venugopal compered and Venkatramaiah proposed a vote of thanks.
Dasara celebration
It was decided to celebrate Dasara in a grand manner at a meeting chaired by Tahsildar B Shivaswami. Sub inspector H R Nagegowda, newly elected municipal councillors, Raghava Raju the scion of the royal family, the presidents of the local associations and office-bearers and the officials of various departments participated.
