Self-confidence needs to be instilled in rural youths who are disappointed and disinterested, said Krishna Nayak president of the Atmasri Pratishtana.
After inaugurating the Grameena Yuvajanotsava programme organised by the Atmasri Pratishtana at the Government ground here, Nayak said a plethora of problems are haunting the people of Pavagada taluk.
Awareness needs to be created among people about the Flourasis disease which is increasing dangerously. He added that the taluk is now know as drought prone but no attempts have been made to realise people about the cause of drought.
Speaking about the depleting ground water level, he said that people need to be told about latest technology through which a profitable yield can be harvested with little usage of water. He also urged the farmers to judiciously utilise the available ground water and said more programmes will be taken up in this direction.
Chief guest Narayanaswamy of Anti-Naxal Force said this is a great opportunity for rural people to showcase their talent. He opined that the Pavagada is the only region where there are youth centred programmes.
Programmes like these not only inspire and but also motivates the youth to think creatively for the country. In the absence of such programmes they are likely to be involved in anti-social work and may end up as anti social elements, he warned.
Block Education officer Kemparangaiah opined that programmes like these should be held continuously in order to keep the youth alert. Lauding the efforts of Pratishtana, he said that the Pratishtana by organising these programmes every year has done a commendable work.
Taluk Physical Education officer Shivashankar Naidu opined that the taluk has abundant sports talent but it is not promoted properly. In the absence of sport associations and well equipped stadium sports in general is being neglected, he regretted. He said that the students excel even in the limited training given to them by their trainers at the time of sports meet and are successful in the sports.
If proper training is given to them we can produce national level champions, he said Co-ordinator of Yuvajanostava Veeranna said that the Yuvajanostava has been held in four hoblis. In the Kasaba hobli Yuvajanostava 28 crickets teams, 6 Kabbaddi teams, 6 Bhajan teams and 8 Dance teams have taken part in it. He opined that our region is bilingual in nature and added that sports and cultural programmes like these will give boost to Kannada language.
