Kannada Rakshana Vedike activists on Thursday resorted to road blockade here protesting against the police brutality on Vedike activists on October 16 at Dharwad.

The activists blocked the National Highway 7 for about 30 minutes. They condemned the Dharwad attack on vedike activists, who were peacefully protesting against the English name boards.

They also demanded that strict action be taken against the police officers. They also threatened to launch a statewide agitation if no action is taken.

There was a long queue of vehicles on both sides of the highway on Mulbagal and Gouribidanur Roads due to the protest at the Shidlaghatta Circle.

District unit President of the Vedike P N Raghunatha Reddy, General Secretary Sundaramurthy, President of the taluk unit P N Shankar, Shidlaghatta taluk unit President Venkataramanappa, Vice President of the Bagepalli unit Seena, Secretary of Chintamani unit N Shivakumar and others took part in the protest.
