Over 10,000 Bajarang Dal volunteers will participate in the ‘Dattamala Abhiyana’ from Dakshina Kannada district to be held from October 20 to 26 at Chikmagalur Dattapeetha.
Addressing a news conference on Thursday, Bajarang Dal District Convener Sudharshan M said that on October 20, the volunteers will wear Dattamala and on October 25, all the devotees across the district will assemble at Mangaladevi Temple premises and proceed to Dattapeetha. On October 26, the devotees will put an end to their seven days long Vritha after the darshan of Shri Guru Dattathreya.
Commenting on the statement made by Governor that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate rules at Dattapeetha, he said that Bajarang Dal has always abided by the rules and hence Governor must provide an opportunity to the Hindus to offer prayer at the Dattapeetha considering the religious feelings of the Hindus.
He said that if the volunteers are not permitted to offer pooja at the peetha, they would still go ahead to perfrom a symbollic prayer under the leadership of their senior leaders. Co-convener Sharan Pumpwell, Lokesh Kottara and others were present on the occasion.
