Thousands of devotees were satisfied during the ‘annadanam’ organised by different committees as part of the Cauvery teerthodbhava in Talacauvery on Thursday.
Activists of Kodagu Unification Front were providing food at Talacauvery while Cauvery Teerthodbhava Annasantarpana Samiti from Mandya arranged for food in a nearby place. ‘Annaprasadam’ was also being distributed by Chettiyar family from Tamil Nadu at Kailasashrama. Thus, the special arrangements for food hid the scarcity of hotels in the area.
In the meantime, Hindu Jagarana Vedike and Virajpet Kodava Samaja too arranged for food at Bhagamandala.
The rush was somewhat less during Teerthodbhava. However, the traffic increased from Bhagamandala to Talacauvery gradually.
It was for the first time, the devotees were being allowed towards Talacauvery after examining them through metal detectors. As the rejuvenation works in the pilgrim centre was almost complete, it was something special to watch the vast devotee-mass witnessing the special rituals there.
Confusions had also been reduced as police security was tight, who had allowed devotees inside in separate groups. As there was no pendal, large number of devotees could witness the event standing beside Brahmagiri.
District administration had made proper arrangements for drinking water and toilets. Devotees from Kerala and Tamil Nadu also flooded to Talacauvery. The ‘triveni sangam’ place at Bhagamandala where three rivers Cauveri-Kannike-Sujyothi merge together, witnessed sacred bathing of thousands of people. Totally all roads in Kodagu appeared to have been leading towards Cauvery kshetra on Thursday.
