A delegation comprising of the leaders from various organisations demanded the Human Rights Commission to hold an inquest into the Ammadlu encounter.
The leaders speaking to the chairperson of the Commission S R Narayan and members who are in the district to hold an enquiry into the encounter termed the Magisterial enquiry by the government an eyewash.
They said that though the police had gunned down innocent people in the Menasinahadya encounter, the enquiry notice still stated that two naxalites and three of their followers were killed. They said that such enquiries with pre conceived notions must not be held.
The delegation demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh per families of four tribals who were killed in the encounter, criminal case against the police officer who gunned them down, action against the higher officers who approved such an encounter and to take care of the education and sustainance of the two children of Ramegowdlu and Kaveriamma couple, who were killed in the encounter.
Kudremukh Rashtriya Udyana Virodhi Okkota President Kalkuli Vittal Hegde, Prof Nagari Babaiah from People’s Democratic Forum and others were present at the programme.
