MOVIES THIS WEEK

Aa Dinagalu (Kan)

Here comes the most ‘authentic’ take on the Bangalore underworld yet. ‘Aa Dinagalu’, based on Agni Sridhar’s book, ‘Dadagiriya Dinagalu’ is releasing this week. A tale of struggle of love against the backdrop of the rivalry between yesteryear dons Kotwal Ramachandra and Jairaj, ‘Aa Dinagalu’ has several newcomers while K M Chaitanya, who has made several documentaries and telefilms, tries his hand at directing a feature film for the first time. Ilayaraja has composed the music while Agni Sridhar and Girish Karnad have scripted the screenplay.

Cameraman H C Venu has captured the feel of the 80. Lyrics are by Sumana Kittur and Kalyan. Chetan, Archana, Deepak, Sharat Lohitashwa, Ashish Vidyarthi, Atul Kulkarni, Girish Karnad, Vinaya Prakash and Dinesh Mangalore are in the cast.

Geleya (Kannada)

Another film on friendship, ‘Geleya’ hits theatres this week. This is Prajwal’s first release after a confident debut in ‘Sixer’, while for Tarun, it is a comeback of sorts after ‘Khushi’. Keerat Patel is the heroine. The film marks the debut of choreographer Harsha as a director. As a special treat, fans can look forward to an item number by none other than Rakhi Sawant! The film has music by Mano Murthy and camerawork is by Krishna, who shot into fame following his work in ‘Mungaaru Male’. Action is by Ravivarma and dialogues are by Ranganath. Kishore, Rangayana Raghu, Ashwath Neenasam, Bullet Prakash, Yogi and Paramesh are all in the cast.

Speed (Hindi)

The film "Speed" is multi-starrer and has stars like Aftab Shivdasani, Zayed Khan, Ashish Chaudhry, Tanushree Dutta, Urmila Matondkar, Amrita Arora and Sophie Chaudhry in the main leads. Zayed Khan, an absolute good-for-nothing, rich brat comes to London to convince his ex-girlfriend Sanjana (Tanushree) to give him another chance to prove his love for her. Kabir Khan (Aftaab)is soon going to create International chaos.

Rohan Nath (Aashish) London’s super-cop is in charge of security of a high profile visitor. But girlfriend (Amrita) wants him to celebrate her birthday. Little do they know that the events to follow will turn their lives upside down.
