Smooth win for MEG Boys ‘A’

Madras Engineering Group Boys ‘A’ defeated SAI ‘B’ 2-0 in the DS Murthy and V Karunakaran Memorial hockey tournament on Thursday. Avinash struck in the 28th minute and four minutes later Rahul Kumar doubled the lead.
Powered by a 31st minute goal from Ramesh, Centre of Excellence beat South Western Railway 1-0. Corps of Military Police played out a 1-all draw with Dhanraj Ballal Hockey Academy. Naveen (3rd) scored for DBHA, while Kamal Horo (31st) equalised for CMP.

BVS scores over Bhaskar

BV Srinivasa Murthy scored a 45-37, 60-53, 67-27, 23-77, 30-84, 70-32 win over B Bhaskar in the quarterfinals of the 38th senior State-ranking snooker tournament at the KSBA hall on Thursday.

Navaratna down Young Boys

Navaratna struck one goal each in either sessions to down Young Boys 2-0 in the ‘C’ Division football league at the Malleswaram Corporation ground on Thursday. Wachan slotted the first goal in the 27th minute while Wasim doubled the tally three minutes into the second-half.

At the ITI ground, Active  Union and Rangers shared honours with a 1-1 draw. Rangers went ahead in the 30th minute through a Satish goal while Active Union drew level with a 52nd-minute strike by Rajesh.

Sunil Raju to lead Karnataka U-19

All-rounder Sunil Raju will lead Karnataka in the South Zone under-19 cricket tournament for Vinoo Mankad Trophy to be played in Thiruvananthapuram from October 20 to 26.

Banking on unbeaten half-centuries by Shanthanu Sharma (70) and Uttam (76) and a five wicket haul by Chetan (5-23), Florence Public School (RT Nagar) registered a facile 56-run win over Acxilium High School in the Pepsi Cup cricket tournament on Thursday.

State U-13 girls team announced

Karnataka State Football Association on Thursday announced the State under-13 girls team for the National Football Festival to be held in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa.
