Representatives of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Datta Peetha Horatta Samithi will submit a memorandum to Governor Rameshwar Thakur in Bangalore on Friday, explaining the history and legal standing with respect to Bababudanagiri.
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore on Thursday, BJP State Secretary and Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi said there was no court order against allowing Shobha Yatra as part of Datta Mala Abhiyan. He accused former minister and senior Congress leader D B Chandre Gowda of misleading the Governor on the issue.
Mr Gowda had met Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Monday and urged him to stop the saffron brigade from taking out the procession.
Accusing Mr Gowda of maintaining double standards, Mr Ravi said that the former minister had himself offered pooja during the abhiyan when he was district in-charge minister during S M Krishna’s regime. Mr Ravi said several BJP leaders will be participating in the Datta Mala Abhiyan which begins on October 20.
